Deja & Dance at Kinetika Bloco
I’m 15 and have been dancing with Kinetika Bloco for two years which have been the most fun and exciting two years of my life!
Since I was born, I have always loved to dance, my mum has shown me video of me at parties having the time of my life. Dance is my solution for everything, I could never have a bad moment with dance. When I dance, I feel passion, joy, love, and excitement
Dance at KB
With my time at Bloco, I have done multiple gigs and have many more upcoming. My favourite gigs are carnival and the Royal Albert Hall with Ezra collective.
I love carnival because it is full of colours and vibes. When I listen to Soca, I never fail to move my body and smile. Soca originated in the Caribbean. Soca and I are best friends especially because I am Jamaican, I grew up around Soca music. Carnival anywhere in the world is full of colours, food, music and much more.
My first ever gig with KB I was excited because I was doing something I love, and I could express my passion through my movements. Live, laugh, love dance.
When I performed at the royal albert hall with Ezra collective, I was a bit nervous because there was a BIGGG audience but when I got on that stage and heard the music I forgot about the world and embraced it because not everyone gets to do what I have done. I love dance and music, they come as two peas in a pod. What’s dance without music? What’s music without dance? Even if it is a two-step, you are still dancing.
During summer school 2023 I was lucky enough to choreograph a Soca song called Long Live Soca. I was extremely passionate about choreographing because my main style of dance is dancehall. My inspirations were TikTok and my family because since an early age I have attended parties as I said earlier. On TikTok, dancehall is trending so to be able to choreograph a routine was a wonderful experience as I want to become a choreographer in the future. The person I got ideas from was @rebelthisofficial as she has done many dances and I believe she is a great dancer. The dance trends I used to help me were Ambala, Tip Inna It and also my own knowledge.
