About Us

Who We Are

Kinetika Bloco is a youth music charity with an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dancers all in costume creating a “unique new British Carnival sound with a decidedly London edge” (BBC Radio 2).

We draw our influences from the Caribbean, Brazil, Africa and New Orleans. Our achievements include: performances at Notting Hill Carnival, The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, London Jazz Festival; performing for Nelson Mandela who called us “enchanting”; representing the UK at Beijing Olympic Festival and leading Team GB in the 2012 Olympic Victory Parade; Collaborating with Mercury Prize Winners Ezra Collective at Glastonbury and The Royal Albert Hall; starring on BBC 1 Xtra and BBC Radio 3; recording our debut album Legacy and performing our own second-line in New Orleans.

Kinetika Bloco has existed since 2000 and was established as a charity in June 2010. We are a Creative Learning partner at Southbank Centre and an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation.

Our Mission

To get South London young people engaged in long-term creative activity in music, dance, design and leadership, advancing their education, skills and capacity. We want to help young people achieve their potential and participate in society as mature and responsible individuals. With an outstanding track record in musical progression, we develop a consistent and proven talent pathway for young artists, empowering them to develop creatively and take the lead within Kinetika Bloco and the wider sector.

Kinetika Bloco aims to embody and promote a positive representation of youth in London.

Our Team

At Kinetika Bloco we have an amazing team that works hard to help us create our unique sound, dance and costume. We are passionate about growing our own leaders and 75% of our team are alumni of Kinetika Bloco.
